7 fun facts about Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss
Miss South Africa, 22-year-old Rolene Strauss, was crowned Miss World 2014 at London's ExCel Centre on Sunday (Dec 14).
This makes her the third South African Miss World since the beauty pageant first began in 1951.
Here are some fun facts about the latest Miss World:
1. She's a test tube baby

On her website, Strauss said that her parents struggled to start a family and waited five long years before she "popped out of a test tube".
2. She's bilingual
In an interview with Jacaranda FM in April, Strauss conversed fluently in English and Afrikaans.
3. Bagged her first pageant at 15

Strauss was only 15 when she won the Elite Model Look South Africa in 2007.
In 2011, Strauss was shortlisted as the top five for Miss South Africa 2011.
4. She's single ... maybe

During an interview with the South African TV Authority, Strauss was asked about the number of boyfriends she had dumped before.
She replied: "I would say three."
And when asked about her relationship status, she said: "I definitely don't have a public relationship.
"You know, as a Miss South Africa people look up to you and see you as an independent, strong woman. That's the picture I'd like to show people out there and I think it's difficult to be in a relationship because of your busy schedule."
5. Drives a Volvo

6. She loves home-cooked food

Speaking to Oprah Magazine South Africa, Strauss said: "My mother's oxtail with stampmielies (a corn dish) is my favorite home-cooked meal.
"We have an old coal stove we use in the winter, and no oxtail can taste better than my mom's, made on that stove."
7. Soon-to-be doctor

Following in her father's footsteps, Strauss, a fourth-year medical student at the University of the Free State, will soon become a doctor.
She has currently put her studies on hold to pursue her dream of being a beauty pageant queen.
