Foo Fighters fans crowdfund concert into existence

Foo Fighters fans in the US city of Richmond haven't seen their idols play there since 1998.

So four fans who got tired of waiting decided to organise an imaginary concert, The Wire reported.

They set up the Bring Foo Fights Back to RVA campaign on Crowdtilt in March, with tickets going at US$50 (S$63), Entertainment Weekly reported.

The campaign message read: "The Foo Fighters haven't played Richmond, Virginia since May 17, 1998. That's more than 15 years ago and that's way too long. So we're taking it upon ourselves to bring 'em back!"

Their goal? To sell US$70,000 (S$88,000) in tickets (with the hopes that the band would agree to play).

The group marketed it as a zero-risk scheme, stating that "credit cards are only charged if the show sells out. Full refunds if the band doesn't play".

They reached their goal last week, and surprise, surprise! The band responded.

With just 1,400 tickets sold, the gig will be one of the band's smallest shows since 2011, reported The Guardian.
