Divergent series to end with TV movie

The fourth and final chapter of the Divergent film series will not see the light of day in cinemas.

Instead, Ascendant will be released as a TV movie.

However, it is not clear if the franchise's stars, Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort and Miles Teller, will reprise their roles.

Ascendant was originally scheduled to open in June 2017.

According to Variety, the reason for the drastic move was due to the poor box-office receipts of the last instalment, Allegiant, which was released this year.

It earned US$179.24 million (S$243m).

Based on Veronica Roth's young adult books, Divergent and its sequel Insurgent were hits when they were released in 2014 and 2015 respectively, raking in US$288.88 million and US$297.27 million respectively.

live-action film gets

Pokemon is getting the live-action treatment and will be heading to the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter said that Hollywood production studio Legendary has closed a deal for the film rights for the iconic Japanese property.

No details were given, but it is said the movie will be based on Detective Pikachu, a new character in the Pokemon universe.

Due to the current Pokemon Go craze, it will be fast-tracked to start production in 2017.

I don't remember the context, but it definitely involved the poop emoji. That always makes me laugh - it's a classic.
