Jenkins to write, direct movie on escaped slaves
US director Barry Jenkins, whose movie Moonlight won this year's best picture Oscar, will write and direct a drama for Amazon based on a prize-winning novel - The Underground Railroad - about escaping from slavery.
The 2016 novel by Colson Whitehead is inspired by the historic secret network of routes that allowed slaves to reach freedom in the North in 19th century America.
Amazon has not given a release date for the drama. - AFP
