School of frock
Considering this year's Met Gala is just around the corner, colour me surprised that the stars weren't just serving up fillers this week
KATE HUDSON
Mother's Day screening in New York City
Gown: Valentino
Relieved to see a non-thirsty look from Hudson for once. Pretty woman, pretty dress, pretty great showing.

AISHWARYA RAI
Launch of L'Oreal Paris Cannes Collection 2016 in Mumbai
Gown: Azzi & Osta
That dramatically-sculpted peplum could've been disastrous for anyone who isn't a walking twig, but radiant Rai proves time and again that she's no ordinary woman.

JESSICA CHASTAIN
Long Day's Journey Into Night Broadway opening night in New York City
Dress: Prabal Gurung
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
The vintage pattern, velvety texture and forest green hue are all acceptable. But I would've liked it so much better if the shape wasn't so run-of-the-mill and there was more oomph put into the styling.

MALIN AKERMAN
Billions screening in Los Angeles
Outfit: Not known
Thanks, Malin Akerman, for wearing exactly what I feel about your get-up. It's a big ol' X all right.

NICKI MINAJ
Time 100 Gala in New York City
Dress: Givenchy
All things considered (it's Minaj we're talking about, after all), it could've been much worse. This is yet another black sheer lace dress, but I guess we just ought to be grateful that none of her lady parts are popping out.

EMILY VANCAMP
VanCamp has never worn anything remotely interesting on the red carpet, and she can't get any more generic in this maroon piece of nothing. Come on, you're starring in the biggest superhero movie of the year - this is not the time to play it straight. At least she steps up the day after, opting for a black floral embroidered lattice jumpsuit that gives her much-needed edge and personality.
Captain America: Civil War photocall in London, April 25
Dress: Not known
Captain America, Civil War premiere in London, April 26
Jumpsuit: Zuhair Murad
A lot of clothes are cute, but after you buy the Yeezy shoes, after you get your hair done with a weave, you’re still the same person. I feel like more and more kids are starting to realise this.
