Star Wars VII: Christie and Nyong'o make it
Star Wars dropped casting news of two familiar female forces for the upcoming J.J. Abrams film, Star Wars Episode VII.
Gwendoline Christie, 34, who most people know as Brienne of Tarth in HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones, and Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, 31, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave, have been granted their big tickets into the franchise's highly-anticipated follow-up.
“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement.
“It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”
What we do know is that the film has been looking for candidates to fill the big female role, however, news as to whether Nyong'o or Christie are filling those big shoes still remains unclear.
The two newcomers join the original trilogy's stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker for the 2015 epic space opera.
