Two Korean celebrities jailed for blackmailing Korean star Lee Byung Hun

The verdict's out on the controversy that has plagued Korean actor Lee Byung Hun for the last few months.

Lee is most famed for starring as Storm Shadow in the Hollywood film G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra (2009).

According to Allkpop, Lee, who is married to Korean actress Lee Min Jung, had reportedly engaged in a lewd conversation with Korean model Lee Ji Yeon which she then used in an attempt to extort money from him.

Yesterday (Jan 14), the Korean court ruled that the model and her partner in crime - K-pop singer Dahee (of girl group Glam) - had blackmailed Lee, 44, with a recording of the conversation for approximately USD5 million ($6.2 million).

The model had earlier alleged that she had committed the crime not for the money but because she had been dumped by Lee after he had "used" her sexually.

But after the court took into account the chat history between them and other documents, it decided that that they were not lovers.

Dahee was sentenced to a year in prison while the model was sentenced to one year and two months in jail.

Lee was not at the hearing as he was reportedly in the US for work.
