Michael Jordan joins billionaires’ club
The entertainment world has a new billionaire, this time from sports.
NBA legend Michael Jordan is the latest superstar to join the ranks of the mega rich, Forbes magazine reported.
The 51-year-old is the only athlete in the billionaire club.
His elevation from merely super rich to rich beyond the wildest dreams came after he increased his stake in the NBA team Charlotte Hornets to 89.5 per cent.
He earlier had a 80 per cent share.
Forbes estimated that Jordan’s equity as owner of the Charlotte Hornets is US$416million (S$520 million). His net worth apart from the team is US$600 million.
Tiger Woods
In September 2009, Forbes bestowed title of billionaire upon Tiger Woods, USA Today reported.
Two months later, Woods crashed his car and began his fall from grace.
He’s currently not on the Forbes billionaire list.
