School of frock
A middling week devoid of glamour allowed a Bollywood-Kollywood starlet to sneak in and pip the competition
AMY JACKSON (A-)
Trailer launch of Freaky Ali in Mumbai
Dress: Paolo Sebastian
Admittedly, the cleavage is beyond distracting. But the doll-like British Bollywood-Kollywood actress is still giving us sweetness amid all that sex appeal. It helps that her exquisitely embroidered nude lace cocktail dress and overall styling is so pretty.
DIANE KRUGER (B)
Disorder premiere in New York City
Dress: Alexander McQueen
Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti
With the poppy pattern, eyelet texture and billowing sleeves, the knee-jerk reaction to this extremely busy frock is a no. But the more I look at it, the more this weird silhouette grows on me. Kruger can always be relied on to keep things interesting.
LEA MICHELE (B-)
FOX Summer TCA Press Tour in Los Angeles
Dress: Marchesa
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman
On this rare occasion, I do not detect any thirst from a Lea Michele outfit. Nothing is overdone or offensive. Such sartorial restraint deserves applause.
JANUARY JONES (C-)
Fox Summer TCA Press Tour In Los Angeles
Jacket: Zimmermann
Pants: Not known
Shoes: Kurt Geiger
Nothing about this mash-up of tacky 90s bomber jacket, cropped flared jeans and glittery pointy pumps makes a lick of sense. She needs to crawl back into the cruise ship casino from whence she came.
FERGIE (D)
Spaceman premiere in Los Angeles
Cap and pants: Moschino
The pop star already owned this throwback leather look in the 80s, so unless Fergie was testing out Madonna Halloween costumes, she'll do better to get herself a new wardrobe.
MOST IMPROVED
BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD
Despierta America set in Miami, July 27
Top and skirt: Not known
Pete's Dragon premiere in Los Angeles, Aug 8
Dress: Givenchy
Howard definitely still needs to enrol in Posing 101, but she may finally be figuring it out in the fashion department. I feel pity over how she practically destroyed herself with the secretarial butternut squash top and flappy skirt. But give her a film premiere to go to and excellent progress is made with the sassy, curve-hugging green and black leopard print dress and vampy styling. As much as she loves being Plain Jane, Howard, 35, needs to play Movie Star a bit more.
