School of frock: A-game
At the past week's international shindigs like the American Music Awards, British Fashion Awards and The Danish Girl premiere, the stars brought their A-game there
JENNIFER LOPEZ
American Music Awards in Los Angeles
Dress: Michael Cinco
JLo doesn't always have to be half-naked to have a fashion moment. This was the most demure, covered-up look out of her 10 wardrobe changes of the night - and also the clear favourite.
Totally going gaga over the sparkly tea-length fuchsia ombré frock and I want to bury my face in that amazing skirt.
Rating: A
HANNAH DAVIS
American Music Awards in Los Angeles
Gown: Naeem Khan
Only a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl can get away with wearing silver mesh over a bodysuit and calling it a gown.
Incredible from head to toe.
Rating: A
AMBER HEARD
The Danish Girl premiere in Los Angeles
Pantsuit: Dolce & Gabbana
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
One of the best menswear looks ever, and one of the best Amber Heard looks too. The details - from the sleek fit and standout floral embossment to the velvet lapels and satin tie - really seal the deal.
Rating: B+
JADA PINKETT SMITH
Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas
Dress: Zuhair Murad
Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti
Who knew lacy could be so racy? What's missing is top lining or even a bra, because her boobage is distracting me from the potential beauty in this sheer, embellished silver dress.

GWEN STEFANI
American Music Awards in Los Angeles
Dress: Yousef Al-Jasmi
If new man Blake Shelton is responsible for this, then it's proof these two shouldn't be allowed to date. I get it, divorce is hard and faculties are bound to be impaired but I rue the day when someone as cool as Stefani goes down the desperate Madonna path.
I just don't see how turning up like a jellyfish in mourning makes her look younger or hotter.

NAOMI CAMPBELL
BRITISH FASHION AWARDS IN LONDON
Dress: Burberry
Is Campbell that hung over? Because she obviously thinks it's still Halloween, playing the witch who just got out of bed and forgot to throw a robe over her nightgown.

WHO WORE IT BETTER?
JENNIFER CONNELLY VS ALICIA VIKANDER
Jennifer Connelly
Shelter premiere in New York City, Nov 11
Alicia Vikander
The Danish Girl premiere in Los Angeles, Nov 21
Both ladies are sucking the life out of their unattractive Louis Vuitton embellished maxi dresses, featuring a tragic print that makes it look like the bottom half is hanging from the wearer's nipples. It's between a rock and a hard place when choosing a winner, but I reluctantly concede that Connelly's pink and black version is less drab than Vikander's blue.
MOST IMPROVED
ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY
LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, Nov 7
Gown: Gucci
British Fashion Awards in London, Nov 23
Gown: Burberry
She sure loves taking the plunge, doesn't she? The first rose pink tiered gown is basically mutated into a saloon costume by the black ribbon straps, cheap prom corsage and 90s-era choker.
It's all so terribly old-fashioned. Huntington-Whiteley is at her best when she's in something slinky, simple and sultry, like this blush sequined number boasting an even deeper V-neck.
She should just swear by the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) philosophy from now on.
SPECIAL MAN-TION
EDDIE REDMAYNE
The Danish Girl premiere in Los Angeles
Suit: Gucci
Welcome back to the red carpet, you adorable creature. He really set the bar high when it came to interesting suits last year during awards season for The Theory Of Everything. We expect no less from his current promo tour for The Danish Girl, which may just earn him a back-to-back Best Actor Oscar. Glad to see Redmayne still delivers in this fabulously dandy plaid ensemble.
“It’s my idea of hell, wearing heels to a club. I don’t see why anyone would... I want to shimmy across the floor and I can’t do that in, like, a bandage dress and heels.”
— British model Suki Waterhouse, who has more fun dancing in flats
