Bollywood giants chase Iron Man on highest paid list
Actors have been renowned for spectacularly high salaries.
But some actors are paid more than others.
Forbes list of The World's Highest-Paid Actors has some entries that could surprise you.
For the third year running, Iron Man Robert Downey Jr, reigns at the top of the money pile and places at No. 1 on the annual list.
His paycheck?
Oh, just a modest US$80 million (S$111 million) – his highest annual earnings ever.
Not a huge surprise given the 50-year-old's last film Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of this year's top-grossing movies – $1.4 billion box office earnings.
That, and the alleged $40 million – if sources are to be trusted – he will be taking home for his role in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
Trailing behind by $30 million is – surprisingly – Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan who was last seen sharing screen time with John Cusack and Adrien Brody this year in Dragon Blade.
Giving the less stellar performance of that film, his ranking is supplemented by a range of popular Jackie Chan merchandise and collector's items, his Segway dealership and his cinema chain in Beijing.
Other contributions include his upcoming roles in action comedy Skiptrace (in which he is also an investor) and Kung Fu Panda 3.
The list of 33 also sees 12 new faces, including Jonah Hill.
Five newcomers are from Bollywood, and three have placed in the top 10.
They are Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan (both at No. 7 with $33.5 million), just ahead of Akshay Kumar at No. 9 with $32.5 million.
