Korean zombie blockbuster Train To Busan, which premiered here last month, has become the top Asian movie of 2016 in Singapore after surpassing Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Chow's fantasy comedy The Mermaid.

As of last Sunday, Train To Busan - directed by Yeon Sang-ho and stars Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi and Ma Dong-seok - raked in $4.41 million at the local box office.

It is currently showing in cinemas here.

The Mermaid, which opened here in February, earned $4.35 million.

Local director Jack Neo's period two-parter Long Long Time Ago and Long Long Time Ago 2 - released in February and March - earned $4.16 million and $3.03 million respectively, taking third and fourth place respectively.
