Movie Review: Bakuman (PG)
Japanese feel-good
manga adaptation
Bakuman will appeal to today's youngsters - and hopefully make them less disillusioned about life.
Moritaka Mashiro (Takeru Sato), despite his talent in comic drawing, is initially against following in the footsteps of his manga artist uncle, as the uncle died of exhaustion.
Things start to change when he falls in love with Miho Azuki (Nana Komatsu), who inspires him with her dream of being a voice actress. His classmate, aspiring writer Akito Takagi (Ryunosuke Kamiki), persuades Mashiro to form a manga-creation duo with him.
Sato, of the Rurouni Kenshin films, puts in an amazing performance as a determined 17-year-old geek.
