Woodley honoured for going green

Shailene Woodley has had quite a month.

The Divergent actress was presented with the Female EMA Futures Award at the 26th Environmental Media Awards on Saturday.

Good timing too, as the 24-year-old was recently arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and engaging in a riot for being part of the protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Woodley, in her acceptance speech, voiced her determination to protect natural resources.

"What is really important is standing up and making our voices so loud... The time is now; we don't have any more time. We cannot let this oppression continue," she said.

Also recognised was US actor Jaden Smith, 18, who received the male equivalent of the award for his work with non-profit organisation JUST to make water bottles from renewable sources.

Cyrus flubs lyrics at event honouring Bill Murray

US comedian Bill Murray, 66, received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour at a star-studded Kennedy Center ceremony last Sunday, but it was US singer Miley Cyrus who received a standing ovation.

After Cyrus, 23, botched the lyrics of a Murray-specific version of Frank Sinatra's My Way and filled it with profane apologies between stanzas, Murray stood from his seat in the balcony and joked with the crowd.

"This is live entertainment!" shouted Murray, as the audience roared with laughter.

Cyrus was allowed a re-do and she nailed it.

Murray later paid tribute to his older brother Brian Doyle-Murray, who had to support the family after their father died and also helped him get his start in improvisational theatre.

"My brother had more guts than anyone I ever knew, and the only reason I'm here tonight is because of the guts of my brother Brian," Murray said.

"He's been waiting a long time to hear that."

Drake to drop new album in December

Good news for Drake fans.

The Canadian hip-hop artist announced on Sunday that he will be releasing a new album called More Life: The Playlist in December.

Drake, who turned 29 yesterday, dropped the news while guest hosting an episode of OVO Sound, a radio show on Apple's Beats 1.

"I want to give you a collection of songs that will become the soundtrack to your life, so this More Life: The Playlist... all original music from me."

He also debuted four tracks, including Fake Love, which is likely to be inspired by his summer fling with Barbadian pop star Rihanna.

Cruise sends Fanning birthday gift every year

Dakota Fanning's shoe collection keeps growing - thanks to Tom Cruise.

The American Pastoral actress revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last week that her War Of The Worlds co-star has been sending her a birthday gift every year since she was 11.

Calling Cruise, 54, a "lifelong friend" ever since she worked with him on the sci-fi movie in 2005, Fanning, 22, admitted she sometimes wondered if the gifts - "usually shoes" - will stop.

"I always think, 'Oh, when I'm 18, he'll probably stop. Oh, 21, he'll stop.' But every year (there's still a gift). It's really kind."
