14 workers charged with rioting
Fourteen men from Bangladesh aged between 25 and 28 were charged in court yesterday with rioting at a workers' dormitory.
They were among 35 foreign workers, mainly from South Asia, who were allegedly involved in the fight that broke out at a Kaki Bukit dormitory on Tuesday.
Three others from India were charged with one count of affray each for exchanging punches with the 14.
All 17 were part of a fracas that took place during the screening of a live cricket match between Bangladesh and the West Indies, in which the West Indies won.
Investigations against the other suspects are ongoing, said the police in a statement on Thursday night.
