Accident on TPE leaves one dead, six injured
Six people were injured and another died when a pick-up truck and a lorry collided on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) yesterday.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said one of the men was pronounced dead on the scene, near the exit to Seletar Expressway.
The injured were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).
Two men in the pick-up truck - the driver and the front passenger -were trapped and rescued by SCDF officers using hydraulic tools.
A medical team from KTPH, that the SCDF had called, resuscitated one of the men who did not have a pulse at the scene.
A KTPH spokesman said the medical team applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation and used intravenous drugs to resuscitate the man. He is in the intensive care unit after surgery for a blood clot in the brain.
Three of the other injured were admitted for surgery, while two were treated for minor injuries. Police said investigations are ongoing.
