Amid permit rejection, FMFA rallies support with #keepfmfaalive hashtag
The New Paper reported yesterday (March 5) that the police had rejected Future Music Festival Asia organisers' application for permits to hold the event.
The police said that organiser Livescape Singapore's requests for a Public Entertainment License were rejected because of "serious concerns with potential drug abuse at the event".
Police also mentioned "drug-related activities that had taken place at past Future Music Festival events, including its March 2014 event in Kuala Lumpur that resulted in drug-related deaths and hospitalisations, including several Singaporeans".
The organisers of Future Music Festival Asia have since put out a statement on Facebook telling fans that a proper update will be provided in 48 hours. Meanwhile, they also said that they stand behind their goal of "creating a drug-free event for our festival goers to enjoy".
They have also urged for fans to post on social media under the hashtag #keepfmfaalive.
And fans have responded.
