Boy, 10, dead after driver rams into stalled car
Their car had stalled on the North-South Expressway for less than 15 minutes yesterday (Sept 24).
But the brief stop ended up costing a Penang family dearly.
And the father is now blaming the motorist who rammed into their stationary vehicle for killing his son, 10.
Mr Suzlisham Salleh, 38, told The Star Online:
"I believe he (the motorist) could have dozed off while driving."
The mishap took place at the 66.7km mark of the northbound highway near Kobah at about 9.30am.
Mr Suzlisham said they were on the way to visit relatives in Jitra and Changlun for Hari Raya Haji but he was forced to stop on the emergency lane as smoke was coming out of the car bonnet.
The family remained inside the car while he called relatives for help.
Shortly afterwards, a car rammed into their vehicle.
Passers-by rushed Muhammad Norhakimi, 10, to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mr Suzlisham said:
“Blood was oozing out of one of his ears. I blame the driver because I stopped on the emergency lane.
"I am considering taking legal action against him.”
He, his wife and two other sons aged nine and four were unhurt.
The 23-year-old motorist suffered light injuries.
