British YouTube star Zoella's debut novel breaks records: Here are 3 local YouTubers who found mainstream success

This article is more than 12 months old

Have you heard of YouTube star Zoe Sugg, more commonly known as Zoella?

Well, you're about to.

Zoella is one of the most popular YouTube stars in the world, dishing out beauty advice.

She has broken the record for the highest-ever sales for a debut novel - beating established names like Dan Brown and J.K. Rowling in the process.

Her book Girl Online sold more than 78,000 copies in the first week.

Her literary success has cemented the 24-year-old's place as a force to be reckoned with - and not just online.

She has also previously released a successful make-up line.

It certainly seems that YouTube stars don't have to confine themselves to their rooms filming vlogs.

This applies to our local YouTube stars too - many of whom have also found mainstream success.

1) Tosh Zhang

First finding fame on YouTube, he has successfully crossed over to the big screen with the immensely popular Ah Boys to Men movies.

2) Dee Kosh

Starting out as a love-him-or-hate-him YouTuber with the questionable accent, Dee Kosh found wider success as a deejay on 987FM.

He has since left radio but continues to make popular YouTube videos.

3) Munah and Hirzi

The ever-popular duo make fun of topical local issues. Their hilarious manner is on display - courtesy of their own show on Suria called Munah & Hirzi: Action.
