CNB arrests 86 drug offenders in island-wide operation

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 86 suspected drug offenders in an operation which lasted a few days.

Lasting from June 15 (Monday) to June 19 (Friday), CNB seized 157g of heroin, 160g of Ice, 27g of ketamine, 82 tablets of Ecstasy, 293 tablets of Erimin-5 and a small amount of cannabis during the operation.

Supported by officers from the Singapore Police Force, the operation took place in various areas as Bukit Merah, Bukit Panjang, Boon Lay, Geylang Bahru, Marsiling, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Woodlands.

In one of the operations, CNB arrested a 25-year-old Singaporean, a suspected drug abuser, at a unit in Geylang Bahru.

Officers found small amounts of ice, ketamine, cannabis and an improvised drug-smoking apparatus in the unit.

Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Singaporean who is a suspected drug trafficker in the area.

Officers found about 25g of Ice and 50 Ecstasy tablets.

When they searched his vehicle parked nearby, they found about 278 Erimin-5 tablets, 25 Ecstasy tablets, 25g of ketamine, 32g of Ice and a small amount of heroin.

They also found various drug paraphernalia which includes a digital weighing scale.

When officers raided the 39-year-old's hideout, a private housing unit in Pasir Ris, they found small amounts of various drugs such as ice, ketamine , heroin and Ecstasy.

Investigations are ongoing.
