Collision at Woodlands traps 3 men
An industrial lorry collided with a tipper truck in Woodlands yesterday, trapping three men.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel rushed to the scene and extricated them from the lorry using hydraulic rescue equipment.
Another man from the lorry was also injured in the 10.20am collision in Woodlands Avenue 8 between the two heavy vehicles, which crumpled the cabin of the lorry.
Shattered glass littered the road and a dislodged side window rested on the grass beside the pavement when The New Paper arrived at the scene following a hotline call.
Mr Desmond Foo, 39, a security officer at the adjacent Centre of Building Research, called the TNP hotline after a colleague told him that ambulances had arrived at the building.
"I thought the ambulances were inside the compound," he said.
Mr Foo stayed at his post and did not see the rescue.
The SCDF sent a fire engine, a Red Rhino, three ambulances, and two support vehicles to the scene.
It said the four men escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Yishun.
It is not known which companies the vehicles are registered to.
Police investigations are ongoing.
