Girl, 10, stays calm during burglary at her home
A 10-year-old girl in Shanghai has been praised for staying calm during an unsuccessful burglary attempt at her home.
In a programme aired on Shanghai Television, the girl said she was on the third floor of her villa, while her grandmother was sleeping in her room on the second floor.
When she walked out of her room around 9pm on Monday, a man suddenly appeared and put a knife on her throat and told her to stay still.
She said the man then asked where her mother' had kept her jewellery, and the password to her father’s locker.
Since she didn't have the answers, he told her to sit besides the computer while he searched the house.
The girl obeyed, Shanghai Daily reported.
Afraid
“I was afraid if I shouted or screamed, he would hurt me. So I called police after he left,” the girl, who was not named, was quoted as saying.
The man left the home empty handed and was caught after police checked the surveillance video and identified him.
The girl was unhurt.
