Girl, 15, arrested while doing mum's job

This article is more than 12 months old

A 15-year-old girl who was standing in for her mother as a guest relations officer was detained by police in Selangor, Malaysia, on Friday evening.

She was scantily clad and dolled up and her job involved singing and dancing provocatively on a stage at a foodcourt patronised mostly by men, Malaysia's The Star reported.

It was her first night on the job and she was a last-minute stand-in for her mother, who was ill. Her mother, 53, was there to watch over her.

Police raided the foodcourt and arrested the owner and 15 women, including the teenager.

The mother could only watch as officers handcuffed her daughter before taking her away.

The girl's grand-uncle, who is in his 70s, said the "mother came down with flu and couldn't sing, and had asked her daughter to replace her just for today".
