Blogger Roy Ngerng and activist Han Hui Hui, along with four others who took part in a protest at Hong Lim Park last month, were charged Monday (Oct 27) with public nuisance.

Ngerng, 33, and Han, 23, led a march on Sept 27 at Hong Lim Park, the only place in Singapore where protests are allowed, despite having only a permit to stage a rally at a fixed spot.

Their march disrupted another event going on at Hong Lim Park - the YMCA Proms@the Park, which involved about 900 volunteers and beneficiaries coming together for a concert and a picnic.

Both Ngerng and Han were separately interviewed by the police last week.

The four others charged on Monday are Low Wai Choo, 54, Chua Siew Leng, 42, Goh Aik Huat, 41,  and Koh Yew Beng, 59.

They are all represented by lawyer M Ravi.

The protest at Hong Lim Park was the fourth 'Return our CPF' rally organised by Han since June this year.

If convicted of the charge of public nuisance, they can be fined up to$1,000.
