Inspiring story of a woman whose mother tried to kill her
When she was just an infant, her 11-year-old mother tried to kill her in a murder-suicide by standing in front of a train.
She was found lying beside the train tracks near Calcutta, India, next to her mother's body, with both arms severed, reported Mail Online.
The authorities were unable to identify her family and she was taken to an orphanage.
After 11 months, she was adopted by a couple who lived in Montana, US.
Her adoptive father, Bruce, wrote in a journal about the decision to take in the amputee child, reported Deseret News.
“I quickly told her (his wife Karen) that she didn't know what she was talking about, I meant the hardship of raising a child with a handicap such as that. Karen quickly said, that doesn't matter and she was meant to be our daughter, but I quickly said no again,” he wrote.
He later changed his mind, and Shanthi Sannar Kimball began her new life.
An incredible journey
Ms Kimball learnt to use her feet to do the work of hands, reported Meridian Magazine.
She brushes her hair and dresses using her feet. She uses a computer, paints and draws with her feet. She drives with her feet.
Ms Kimball, who graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with an arts degree, met her husband while studying and the couple now have two kids.
“It actually hasn’t been that hard because it’s normal for me,” said Ms Kimball.
Well, it's not normal. It's amazing. Thank you, Ms Kimball, for inspiring us.
