K-pop fans around the world plunged into mourning after it was announced that RiSe of girl group Ladies' Code had died on Sunday.

The singer had been in critical condition all week after sustaining a severe head injury during a road accident on Wednesday.

The tragic news hit the K-pop world as it was still grappling with fellow Ladies' Code member EunB's death.

All five members of the group were returning to Seoul from Daegu in a van at around 1.20am when they were involved in a car accident. It is understood that the rear tyre of the van fell off, causing the vehicle to spin in the rain before hitting a guard rail.>

EunB, 21, died at the scene. RiSe, 23, underwent surgery for her injuries but died on Sunday morning. The three other members also suffered injuries.

"We are truly sorry and grief-stricken by this tragedy, particularly after what happened to EunB."
