Physiotherapy available at Geylang Polyclinic
Geylang Polyclinic launched a new physiotherapy service on Thursday - the second SingHealth polyclinic to do so.
Most physiotherapy patients are between 40 and 60 years old and have issues with shoulder, neck, or lower back. They will now be able to access treatments like heat therapy and electrical stimulation, The Straits Times Online reported.
Dr Gilbert Tan Choon Seng, clinic director of Geylang Polyclinic, said that bringing specialised services like physiotherapy closer to the community would help patients get treatment earlier.
"We hope that with the extension of this service to SingHealth Polyclinics-Geylang, more patients will be able to benefit from it, reducing the need for referrals to hospitals," he said.
The service was first introduced in Tampines Polyclinic in November last year. The polyclinic has seen more than 300 physiotherapy patients since then.
One of these is Madam Oey Mi Ling, who feels that being able to access physiotherapy in the neighbourhood is "so much easier".
