Ex-MTV VJ is taking her girls for the Big Walk
With her inquisitive little ones in tow, former MTV VJ Teh May Wan is expecting many animal questions
Looking at her pretty face, clear skin, natural radiance, and healthy physique, you would not guess that Teh May Wan is 35 years old.
Or that she is the mother of two girls.
Leala Haryadi, six, and Siena, five, are the secrets to her beauty, said the former MTV VJ.
"We tend to laugh at the same things, and the funniest person we know is my dad, or their Ah Gong," she said.
"My dad is such a comic because of the way he laughs and talks."
The ambassador of skincare brand Face Inc recalled an incident at a recent family dinner.
She said: "My dad was blowing his coffee because it was really hot and my daughters took a cup of tea and imitated him.
"It reminded me of when I was young, my sister and I would do that."
Teh said no one at home would get their jokes except her and the girls.
And Leala and Siena remind her father of Teh and her twin sister, Choy Wan.
Being happy and staying positive is crucial to keeping beautiful, said Teh.
"I always try to think positively and put things into perspective when the situation gets tough.
"I try to remember not to take what I have - my home, children and family - for granted."
She confessed that being a mother had been "a roller-coaster ride with many ups and downs".
Said Teh: "I have been challenged on many occasions to the core by tough situations, like when Siena was hospitalised last year for food poisoning. I had to be strong for her, especially as my husband was away. Whatever fear I felt was pushed to the side because it wasn't a time to cry but a time to push on. I kept praying the whole night. Motherhood has made me a stronger person.
"It has made me more considerate and empathetic to others, especially to women."
She added: "Seeing my girls grow up well-behaved and intelligent has been rewarding. They have the biggest hearts and they can socialise well with their peers and even with adults."
FAN OF THE ZOO
You can now get a chance to meet mummy and the girls at The New Paper Courts Big Walk.
Teh said with a laugh: "The Big Walk is for family bonding. It will give parents a chance to spend quality time with their kids because we are going to be stuck with them for 5km.
"We get to look at animals and my kids will surely start asking me really specific questions like, 'Why do they sleep so much?' or 'What do they eat?'
"These questions challenge my mind, so it is a learning curve for kids and parents."
Teh is a big fan of the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari.
The theme parks, she said, are among the best in the world because of their cleanliness, safe environment and foodcourt.
