F1 'track man' charged in court
The man who entered the race track during Sunday night's Formula 1 race was charged in the State Courts on Tuesday (Sept 22) morning.
Yogvitam Pravin Dholia, 27, a British national, was slapped with one count of rash act.
The incident, which took place on Lap 37, saw Ferrari driver and race-winner Sebastian Vettel shouting to his team: "There's a man on the track! Man on the track!"
He is accused of entering the race track near Turn 13 along Esplanade Drive and crossing the track while the race was ongoing, which endangered the personal safety of the drivers involved.
No plea was taken from Yogvitam on Tuesday morning, who is unrepresented.
The prosecution asked that his bail be set at $15,000, and his bailor to be a SIngapore citizen, a permanent resident or a British consular officer.
His passport is also to be impounded.
Dressed in a blue short sleeved shirt, Yogvitam, who is close to 2m tall, told the court that the bail amount was too high and that he couldn't afford it.
He was travelling on his own savings, he said.
He will next appear before the courts on Oct 6.
