Facade of The Fullerton Hotel becomes a huge projection screen for SG50
If you were near The Fullerton Hotel over the weekend you may have been surprised to see its facade transform into a stunning lightshow.
The display is, of course, in honour of Singapore's 50th birthday.
If you did not see the show, do not worry.
Over the next week it will be shown three time per night (four times on Saturday, twice on Sunday).
The hotel – at 128-years-old – has been a key fixture in the story of modern Singapore.
For this reason it was deemed to be a perfect canvas to show key images from Singapore's history in a display titled, A Celebration Of Our Heritage.
The eight-minute long music and video piece uses the latest 3D animation and projection techniques to bring key moments in Singapore's muli-layered, multi-ethnic history to life.
Included in the montage is the building's previous role as a Singapore's General Post Office, and it will also feature 3D projections will animate some of the stamps that have been in circulation over the past 50 years.
Adding to the air of nostalgia, The Fullerton Hotel will be distributing complementary kachang putih and potong ice cream at One Fullerton.
The company behind the Fullerton lightshow, Hexogon Solution, was also responsible for the light show at the recent SEA Games opening ceremony.
The very same one that earned the Guinness World Record for the “World’s Largest Digital Projection System”.
Mr Giovanni Viterale, General Manager of The Fullerton Heritage said: “We hope A Celebration of Our Heritage will resonate with Singaporeans and long-time residents. The show will evoke national pride, and be a nostalgic walk down memory lane. For visitors, it will offer a glimpse of our very rich heritage."
To give each viewing and extra dash of nostalgia The Fullerton will be handing out complimentary kacang putih and potong ice cream.
Free snacks and a movie.
There's also a photo contest to win a weekend staycation at the hotel.
