Founding Fathers exhibition opens
An exhibition chronicling the contributions made by the founding team of leaders in the first 10 years of Singapore's independence opens at the National Museum tomorrow (Sept 22).
Entitled We Built A Nation, it is the first time the 100 artefacts and items are on display to the public.
Many of the artefacts were donated by the Estate of Lee Kuan Yew, bearing the simple and disciplined lifestyle of the country's first Prime Minister.
The items were donated in keeping with the wishes of the late Mr Lee and his late wife Kwa Geok Choo that his house at Oxley Road be demolished after his death.
These items include Mr Lee's red box which carried his most vital documents and transcripts, as well as the desk that his children studied at before becoming his personal desk.
