Billionaire​ Kwek Leng Joo died in his sleep from a sudden heart attack on Monday (Nov 16) morning at the age of 62.

The deputy chairman of property group City Developments was a well-known advocate of corporate social responsibility. 

Just last month, he received the President’s Award for the Environment 2015, our nation’s highest environmental accolade.

Mr Kwek was also an avid photographer. Over the years, he raised over $3 million for charitable and environmental causes through the sale of his works and art books.

What: An exhibition called Tracking Memories (2011) by Mr Kwek and Cultural Medallion recipient Ong Kim Seng. It paid tribute to the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and the rail system.  
What:  Charity exhibition to raise money for the The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund. Mr Kwek donated 18 photos of rare flowers.  
What: One of 18 works Mr Kwek donated to ChildAid. The photos were later sold for between $20,000 and $50,000 each. PHOTO: KWEK LENG JOO
