Lost hiker found in forest 4km away from road
Police have described how they found an elderly man who had gone missing while hiking.
He was finally found in the forest on Monday, 4km away from Chestnut Avenue, near Bukit Panjang.
Speaking to The New Paper on Tuesday (Sept 8), Assistant Superintendent of Police Rikesh Chand Rai, said when rescuers found Mr Ng Kang Leng, 76, he was sitting on the ground near a river.
ASP Rikesh said: "Mr Ng was covered with scratches and he looked exhausted.
"We gave him water and he drank two bottles. He looks quite strong for his age."
Mr Ng, who is an avid hiker, had set off on a trek from Dairy Farm Road on Saturday (Sept 5) afternoon.
He had planned to trek to MacRitchie Reservoir but got lost along the way.
He was rescued 45 hours later after more than 200 officers from the police, PUB and National Parks Board mounted a search for him.
