One of the eight missing students from Tanjong Katong Primary School on Mount Kinabalu has been found said the Ministry Of Education (MOE).

The 12-year-old male student is now receiving medical treatment in Kota Kinabalu.

Malaysian authorities are continuing search and rescue efforts. MOE officials are in constant contact with the authorities to render any assistance required.

There are seven students and two teachers still unaccounted for.

There are also six Malaysians unaccounted for said Ranau district police chief at  a press conference.

Of the 21 students and six teachers accounted for, 19 students and 2 teachers will return to Singapore this afternoon.

However, because more medical attention was required for two students and one teacher, they will be returning on air ambulances later today.

Three other teachers are remaining in Kota Kinabalu.

They will work with the onsite team and to look after the remaining student.
