Singapore's biggest gymnastics centre opens in Jurong East
The gymnastics facility opens for enthusiasts to scratch that acrobatics itch
Singapore's biggest gymnastics facility has just opened in Jurong East.
Called The Yard, the 1,200 sq m centre in Science Centre Road is about the size of 1½ football fields.
It boasts a wide range of equipment including eight balance beams, nine sets of bars, two foam pits, two Olympic-size trampolines and a 16m-long trampoline tumble track.
Its founder, Ms Rosanna Trigg, 32, is a former competitive gymnast and gymnastics coach from the UK.
She said: "With students having such busy schedules nowadays, having a dedicated space with greater multiples of apparatus allows for better efficiency."
At the moment, most of The Yard's clientele are gymnasts, both recreational and competitive.

Apart from the ongoing gymnastics classes for both adults and kids, there are also parkour and trampoline classes.
She said: "I want to rebrand gymnastics into something that is accessible to everyone."
Singapore Polytechnic student Dylan Lim, 17, who does "tricking" at The Yard, said: "The space is much bigger here, and the spring deck floor means it does not hurt as much when you fall."
"Tricking" is a form of acrobatics that he described as a combination of "flipping, kicking and twisting".
The Yard also has drop-in sessions on weekday evenings, where you can pop by and pick up the basics of gymnastics, parkour and trampolining. It costs $30 a session.
