Fancy spending a night at Asian Civilisations Museum?
Visitors to the Asian Civilisations Museum can stay over for 24-hour event this weekend
Have you ever thought of spending a night at the museum? 24hrs@ACM, a round-the-clock fiesta at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), will give you the opportunity to do just that.
In celebration of ACM’s new galleries, the 24-hour party is set to take place from 7pm this Saturday to 7pm the next day.
Admission is free and since it’s an all-nighter, you, your family and friends can show up in your nightwear.
After all, one of the main highlights is the pyjama party, in which visitors can explore the galleries in their pyjamas, and then have a sleepover in the River Room, an empty gallery space on the second level that will soon be filled with new collections.
ACM’s deputy director of audience learning and digital media, Dr Lim Chye Hong, said: “In those 24 hours, we have performances, film screenings, picnics and even kite crafting, an interactive introduction for visitors to experience the museum.”
STRIKING
Featuring the new Kwek Hong Png wing, a striking three-storey floating contemporary cube, and the Khoo Teck Puat gallery in the Riverfront wing, the revamped museum now has a stunning entrance that faces the historic Singapore River.
The re-orientation of the museum is part of the effort to draw crowds from the area.
Glass-walled and brimming with natural light, the ACM has been rejuvenated around the themes of Trade and the Exchange of Ideas, and Faith and Belief.
Visitors can check out collections featuring the famous Tang Shipwreck, the Scholar in Chinese Culture, and contemporary art such as Eng Tow’s Grains of Thought in the new wings.
