PM Najib says HSR agreement to be signed next week
JOHOR Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said yesterday that an agreement on the high-speed rail (HSR) project will be signed next week, it was reported.
His comment comes after the two countries postponed a leaders' retreat between Mr Najib and his Singapore counterpart, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, which had been scheduled for Monday, at which both sides were to sign the agreement.
Mr Lee "asked to be given some time because they needed to brief and get the approval from the President," Utusan daily quoted Mr Najib as telling reporters at Iskandar Malaysia's 10th anniversary lunch.
The HSR will link Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, cutting the travelling time by more than half to just 90 minutes.
