Two jailed and fined for lying to police after collision
Both men jailed, fined for lying to police after collision
After a night of drinking, their car got into an accident with two other cars.
Things got violent as the two friends fought with one of the drivers.
To make things worse, they lied to a police officer about who was driving to avoid a breathalyser test.
Yesterday, Saw Jin Xiong, 34, and Augustine Ong Kuok Ann, 36, were each jailed two weeks and fined $3,000.
Court papers said the two friends had met for drinks at a Joo Chiat pub at about 7.30pm on Feb 25 last year.
They left the pub at about 9pm and got into Ong's car.
As Ong exited the PIE onto Upper Changi Road, he suddenly braked, causing the car driven by Mr Jordan Ho, 37, to collide into the rear of Ong's car.
COLLIDED
A third car, driven by Mr Bryan Leroy Ng, 19, collided into the rear of Mr Ho's car.
The four men got out of their cars.
Saw approached Mr Ho, who was walking towards Ong's car, and punched his face.
Mr Ho retaliated with a punch before Ong joined the fight and also punched Mr Ho's face.
The fight stopped when Mr Ng separated the three men.
The incident was spotted by a passer-by, who called the police.
When officers arrived at the scene, Saw and Ong lied that it was Saw, who was driving the car. Saw had passed the breathalyser test.
Ong was not administered the test.
Yesterday, both men both pleaded guilty to one count of affray and one count of providing false information to a public servant.
One other charge was taken into consideration for sentencing for each of the accused.
Mr Ho was given a police warning.
