Tyre bursts, car crashes: Couple killed, 4 kids orphaned
The family of six planned to celebrate Hari Raya Haji in their hometown but sadly, the parents never made it.
They were killed in an accident on the North-South Expressway Central Link (also known as Elite Highway) heading from Shah Alam towards Nilai yesterday (Sept 23) morning.
At about 10.30am, the Proton Exora that they were travelling in, skidded, and crashed into a road divider, The Rakyat Post said.
The couple, Nordin Mohd Tahir, and his wife, Hasnah Ishak, both aged 47, died at the scene, Astro Awani reported.
Three of their children aged 21, 18 and 15 were injured while the youngest child, 11, escaped unhurt.
Sepang district police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Ali said initial investigations revealed that the victim lost control of the vehicle in the middle lane of the highway after a rear tyre burst, before hitting the road divider.
