Mr Tan Chong Kheng was stressing out over what to get his girlfriend for Christmas.
But yesterday, this worry was gone.
Mr Tan, 40, an engineer, won an iPad Mini 3 after taking part in The New Paper Bonus Challenge. He intends to give it to his girlfriend of four years, Miss Evelyn Kam, 37, an account executive.
He said: "I was hoping to get the jackpot, but I know my girlfriend would like the iPad Mini."
Ms Kam said she would use it to watch Hong Kong dramas.When Mr Tan started playing the game two years ago, he won an Xbox 4GB Kinect Bundle.
Mr Tan, an avid reader of TNP since 1988, the year the paper was launched, said: "I'm quite surprised I managed to win it again. This shows that anything is possible."Madam Ginny Lim, 57, an account supervisor and Mr Hassan Abu Samah, 59, an admin staff, also won an iPad Mini 3 each.
PERFECT PRIZE
It was the perfect prize for Madam Lim, who has wanted to buy an iPad Mini since it first came out.
She said: "Now I don't have to fight with my husband over the television."
Mr Hassan has been playing the TNP Bonus Challenge since its first edition.
He said: "I had a gut feeling I would win. Before I checked my numbers on the card, I even told my daughter to be prepared to accompany me to the prize collection."
A MINI folding bike was also given away yesterday.
Shuqun Secondary student Eugene Au, 15, was with his father to collect the prize on behalf of his aunt.
Because there have been no winners for the daily $1,000 jackpot cash prize for the past two days, the prize will snowball to $3,000 today.
To play, simply buy a copy of TNP with a Bonus Challenge Card every Monday from Nov 17 to Dec 21.
Match the numbers on the card against six daily digits printed in TNP from Tuesday to Sunday.
Complete any vertical row of numbers and claim your prize on that row by answering a simple question on the spot.
