Angry man shoves cyclist into London traffic

This article is more than 12 months old

London police are on the look-out for a man who angrily shoved a female cyclist off her bicycle and into the path of incoming traffic.

The unnamed woman, who is in her 40s, crossed paths with the man on the evening of May 1 at a junction where she asked him to let her cycle past first so as not to "knock (her) off" the bike.

However, the man, who is also believed to be in his 40s, took offence to her gesture and was heard shouting and swearing at the cyclist before chasing her down to the next turning.

Once he had caught up with her, the enraged man accused the cyclist: "You want to put your finger up at me, you mug? Come on."

He then barged into the woman, sending her sprawling onto the road with a car right behind her.

Fortunately for the cyclist, the black car was moving slowly and stopped, allowing her to pick herself up and move back to safety.

The entire incident was caught on a helmet camera worn by the woman.

According to the police, the rattled cyclist "was very upset" but "did not require medical attention".

Authorities are now appealing to the public for any information on the man.
