A bikini party organised for students in Jakarta has come under the scrutiny of child protection authorities.

The party dubbed “Splash After Class”, scheduled to be held on Saturday (April 25), attracted controversy after the invitation video was circulated on social media.

Senior high school students who had just finished their national exams were invited to the party.

The video claimed that the event was supported by several public and private schools in Greater Jakarta.

The dress code stated was a bikini or summer dress.

But Indonesian Child Protection Commission secretary-general Erlinda said on Friday (April 24) that the students may be too young to attend such a party.

Investigating

She said: "More than a dozen students confirmed they would attend the party (through social media), but the data is still being collected so it’s not final."

Ms Erlinda said the commission, the schools mentioned in the party’s invitation video, the Jakarta city administration and the Jakarta Police are investigating whether the organiser added the schools' names to the video on their own accord and whether any underage children are involved.

Jakarta Police are expected to investigate for any violations of the Pornography Law.

Ms Erlinda said: "The danger with this kind of event is that not only might there be drugs and pornography involved but there might be some people who take these children’s pictures for the wrong purposes."
