It's not just surfers and beachgoers stuck in Bali

Top holiday destination island Bali has closed its airports until Thursday (Nov 5) due to ash clouds coming from a volcano erupting on a nearby island, reported the Straits Times.

Mount Rinjani, an active volcano on the island of Lombok in Indonesia, has been spewing ash since last weekend. The country's meteorological agency have been monitoring tremors coming from the volcano and say that potential of more eruption is still high.

The island's Ngurah Rai airport and Selaparang airport will be closed until Thursday morning and will reopen after a re-evaluation of the situation, officials said.

Since Tuesday (Nov 3), nearly 700 flights have been cancelled and thousands of travelers are stranded in Bali.

However, for LPGA golf stars, Azahara Munoz and Jessica Korda, it's just another call for an extended holiday to enjoy the sun and the beach.

According to the Golfchannel.com, Munoz and Korda were in Bali with Beatriz Recari and So Yeon Ryu for a Lexus Cup corporate outing when the volcano erupted. Their flight to Japan to be there for Friday's LPGA's Toto Japan classic was canceled.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

NDVTV has reported that the volcanic eruption had also delayed the deportation of one of India’s most-wanted gangster, Rajendra Nikalje, widely known as Chhota Rajan.

Nikalje, 55, is facing 70 cases of murder, extortion and drug trafficking in Mumbai alone. He was arrested in Bali last week after a two-decade-long international manhunt.

Australian comedian/ actor Nazeem Hussain, creator and star of comedy show Legally Brown, is also stranded in Bali.
