Man falls while gardening, gets pierced by fence
He was perched on a ladder pruning plants.
But the 68-year-old man slipped and fell — onto the iron rod fencing at his house compound in Klang, Malaysia.
Luckily, the iron rod that Mr Ng Ah Eng fell on narrowly missed his chest and pierced through his armpit.
The accident happened yesterday evening (July 26), Star Online reported.
A neighbour called the Fire and Rescue Department and a team reached the scene within five minutes.
Sungai Pinang fire station Senior Fire Officer II M. Sathiaseelan said:
“The fencing rods are solid iron but we managed to cut through three of them in 20 minutes.”
He revealed that the firemen did not pull the iron rod out from Mr Ng as it would cause profuse bleeding.
“We sent him to hospital by ambulance with the piece of fence he was impaled on,” he added.
The senior citizen was rushed to hospital, where emergency medical officers removed the rod.
