Infant dies after mother puts him in fridge for 3 hours
A US woman who put her four-day-old son in a refrigerator for three hours, which led to his death from hypothermia, was charged with homicide by child abuse on Monday, reported TV station WSOC-TV.
According to an arrest warrant, Angela Blackwell, 27, was at her home in the US state of South Carolina on Feb 27 when she put her baby, William, in the refrigerator and shut the door, said local TV station WJHL.com
She reportedly removed the infant after three hours and sought medical attention.
In a 911 call, a man said the baby's father was doing CPR on the young boy on a bed in the home.
The infant was taken to Chester Regional Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
It took six months to charge the mother because extensive interviews with family members needed to be conducted, police said.
If convicted, Blackwell faces 20 years to life in prison.
