Kanye's invader showers Blatter with cash

This article is more than 12 months old

In June, he stunned the crowd — and the artist — by invading the stage during Kanye West's performance at Glastonbury.

Now serial prankster Lee Nelson, the comic persona of Simon Brodkin, invaded Fifa president Sepp Blatter's stage.

Blatter was about to hold a press conference at Fifa headquarters in Zurich when he was interrupted by Nelson - who was holding to large wads of fake dollar bills.

The conference was to announce reforms to the governing body and the date for the next presidential election.

It could not be heard fully what Nelson was announcing to the massed press, but Blatter was visibly displeased, plaintively asking: "Where is my security?"

The detail eventually arrived.

Nelson had walked onto the stage saying: "This is for North Korea in 2026, thank you very much" before placing a wad of notes on the desk.

As he was led away by two members of security, Nelson turned back, tossing the other wad into the air, saying: "Here you go, Sepp."

As the fake cash fluttered to the ground around Blatter Nelson called to him: "Cheers Sepp, It's all there, as discussed."

Once Nelson had been led away, Blatter announced a delay to the conference as the notes had to be cleared away.

"This has nothing to do with football."

This is not the first football related prank of Nelson's. In June last year, he attempted to join the England World Cup squad as they flew to the US to prepare for their matches in Brazil.
