Enraged with jealousy over his wife's purported affair with another man, a man allegedly slashed and killed her during a quarrel at a budget hotel in Johor Baru.

The 21-year-old slashed his wife, also 21, on her neck and cheeks before leaving her in a pool of blood, The Star reported.

Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said the couple from Malacca were staying at the hotel before job hunting in Singapore the next day, The Star reported.

He said the incident came to light when the husband turned himself in at the Johor Baru Sentral police station at around 5pm after the incident on Wednesday.

He said the suspect, a former plumber, did not have any criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

AC Sulaiman said the case was being investigated.

The man is being remanded for further investigations, he said.
