Yikes, Enrique! With his hand covered in blood, the singer drew a heart across his chest.

On the white t-shirt he wore, the bloody heart was a message to Enrique Iglesias' fans that he wouldn't forsake them - even when he was in terrible pain.

Some fans were blown away at the show of love from the 40-year-old Spanish pop star.

But other netizens found the bloody heart "creepy".

Daily Mail, The Guardian and MarketWatch reported how the singer made a bad decision on Saturday night (May 31),  when he reached for a drone at his concert in Mexico and got his fingers stuck in one of the propellers.

He had been jumping and waving into the camera while encouraging his fans to do so when he reached out to adjust the camera.

According to reports, fans near the stage heard a slicing sound and saw blood splatter on himThose who realised what happened were screaming - and their reactions were audible in the video (below).

The singer wanted to take a drone selfie but was injured when he grabbed the gadget. That was also the moment when white confetti was discharged into the crowd so that Iglesias was blocked from view.

The 12,000-strong crowd went wild when he came back onstage and continued the show after receiving medical attention. Reports said he continued performing against medical personnel's advice.

He flew to Los Angeles yesterday (June 1) for reconstructive hand surgery to repair the damage to his fingers.

The statement he released read:

"During the show a drone is used to get crowd shots and some nights Enrique grabs the drone to give the audience a Point of View shot.

"Something went wrong and he had an accident. He decided to go on and continued playing for 30 minutes while the bleeding continued throughout the show.

"He was rushed to the airport where an ambulance met him there.

He was then put on a plane to L.A. to see a specialist."

Iglesias' spokesman added: "We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

"Thank you to all for your concern and good wishes."

The singer will resume his tour on July 3 in Mexico.
