Man accused of giving two sons drugs
Man faces eight drug-related charges including trafficking, consumption and sale of drugs
A 46-year-old man who allegedly gave drugs to his two sons was charged in court yesterday.
Rosly Salim is facing eight charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
He was first charged in August with selling at least 0.16g of a powdery substance containing diamorphine (pure heroin) to another man for $15 at his Hougang Street 91 HDB flat.
In September, Rosly was slapped with three more charges of possessing and consuming drugs.
EIGHT CHARGES
Yesterday, the prosecution tendered four more charges against Rosly, taking the tally to eight.
The fresh charges included two counts of giving a packet of methamphetamine, also known as Ice, to Muhammad Norsa'if Rosly, 19, and Muhammad Norshawalludin Rosly, 20, whom TNP understands are his sons.
Rosly is also accused of possessing utensils for consuming drugs as well as allowing his HDB flat to be used by another man to consume drugs.
The alleged offences took place between Aug 1 and Aug 4 this year, court papers said.
Yesterday, Rosly, who is in remand, told the court via video link that he intended to plead guilty to the charges but did not have a lawyer.
He is expected to be back in court on Nov 30.
If convicted, he could face between five and 20 years' jail for trafficking drugs, up to 10 years for each possession and consumption charge, and between 10 and 30 years for allegedly giving drugs to each of his sons.
He could also be caned and/or fined.
TNP understands his two sons have been dealt with.
Woman jailed over son's abuse by boyfriend
A 25-year-old woman who let her boyfriend abuse her young son on two occasions was jailed 10 months yesterday.
The victim, who is now three and in foster care, had a skull fracture and bleeding in the brain after he was pushed off a bed by Franklie Tan Guang Wei, 26, on March 25, 2015. The boy, who was then a year old, survived after emergency surgery.
Tan was given 6 1/2 years' jail and six strokes of the cane, for causing grievous hurt and three out of four charges of ill-treating a child. He is appealing the sentence.
The child's mother, who cannot be named to protect the boy's identity, had admitted to two counts of ill-treating her son by permitting him to stay with Tan in his flat on March 8 and 25, 2015. She knew he had previously ill-treated the boy and he was not allowed unsupervised contact with the child, The Straits Times reported.
