Shock loss for water polo women
Singapore suffered a stunning 4-5 defeat by Thailand in the women's water polo final at the OCBC Aquatic Centre on Monday (June 15).
The hosts had gone into the game as overwhelming favourites, but the proceedings in the pool didn't reflect that superiority.
Half way through the match, it was tied 3-3, but the Thais pulled away in the final period by outscoring the Singaporeans 2-1.
Both teams had good opportunities to score in the final period, but neither of them could breach each other's goal.
Singapore captain Gina Koh said: "We played well today and we played our best. Unfortunately, we lost to Thailand, but we will definitely come back stronger in future competitions."
